First we have to make sure maya is dowloaded to your computer. Next we will double click on the maya shortcut icon on your desk top. Click ok On the pop up tabs when the program opens. In the top left corner you will click the file tab and scroll down to project window. Click new and name the project. Under location, click the orange folder to browse where you would like to save your project. Then click accept at the bottom of the project window tab. Next you have to click file again than scroll down to set project. Under the (look in) tab, click the drop down menu to search for your project you just created. Next click Set Under the directory. Finally you have to click file save and you have properly set a new scene in maya
